What is the Barracuda Swim team about

Our team spans ages 6-18 and covers all levels of competitive swimming. The main season runs late September to March. The winter season typically competes in 5 meets (both home and away) against other YMCA’s in out region. We do provide busses to away meets for the swimmers. At the end of the season we host our annual Cookie Classic Invitational Meet.
All members of the Barracuda Swim Team are required to be full members (per league rules). Minimum requirements for the team are at least 6 years of age and able to swim 25 yards of front crawl and 25 yards of back crawl.
In the Spring our coaches run Stroke Clinic, a 6 week program that breaks down the stokes and focuses on fundamentals of front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Starts and turns for each are also incorporated.
Stoke clinic is a great opportunity for those who think they may want to join a swim team but are unsure of what it will be like. It gives the team feel with the focused attention on fundamentals. It is also great for current members to stay in the pool to tide them over to our summer season.
Summer swim team begins in mid-late June and runs until mid August. This is also a great opportunity for new competitive swimmers to get a feel for what the team is all about before committing to the main 7 month winter season.
Depending on the level of swimmer practices run between 3-6 days a week for all seasons.
